"We Are All in This Together"

Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is held every April, was celebrated with a variety of activites created to increase awareness and prevention. Kids First provided mailings to local church for education as well as distributed bookmarks and blue ribbons to local schools and businesses.

Kids First also hosted its first poster contest and included schools from each county that we serve. A portion of the posters were generously donated to the schools by Donna Thomas of A-Z Office Resources. Each child was asked to take this year's theme, "We Are All in This Together", and create a poster to show how they would help a friend who had been hurt. Children were asked to remember information that was introduced to them by CAC staff during Stop Child Abuse and Negelct (SCAN) presentations at their school.

The Board of Directors selected a winner from each county from hundreds of creative and colorful posters. Each winner had their picture taken with their winning poster, was given a certificate and a gift card to Wal-Mart. Winning posters will also be framed and on display at the CAC. A special thank you to the children who participated as well as those teachers and volunteers who helped make the event a success.

Winners from left to right: Elijah Reeder, 3rd grader from Kingston Elementary School, Amelia Parris, 2nd grader from Petros Joyner Elementary School, Andrew Gibson, 3rd grader from Philadelphia Elementary School and Brooklyn Roper, 1st grader from Meigs North Elementary School.
